Would be nice to add an overview table like this one:
The optiPoint workpoints can be powered via a number of methods as listed in the following table:
Workpoint power supply method | optiPoint 150 | optiPoint 400 | optiPoint 410 | optiPoint 420 | optiPoint 600 | AP1120 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
AC/DC Power Supply indoor unit | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Pre-standard IEEE 802.3af mid span PoE injectors | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
IEEE 802.3af mid span (via unused pairs) | Yes | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
IEEE 802.3af end span (via used pairs) | Yes | No | Yes | Yes | No | No |
Cisco Power over LAN (via used pairs) | Yes | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
Power supply unit An external AC/DC power adapter is used to power the IP Phones. Only use the power adapter that is supplied with the telephone. Unplugging or switching off the power to the telephone will de-register the phone. Power over LAN As shown in the table there are four types of power over LAN. Not all of these are supported on every phone. • Pre-standard IEEE 802.3af PowerDsine power hubs with spare pairs • IEEE 802.3af mid span (spare pairs) as provided by the current PowerDsine hubs (as well as PowerDsine pre-standard) • IEEE 802.3af end span (used pairs) as provided by all data vendors from their Ethernet switches (including Cisco) • The Cisco pre-standard (used pair) inline power as installed in many older Ethernet switches.
Power over Ethernet Midspan (PoE injector), with 1,6,12 or 24 output ports, is connected in cascade to exisintg Ethernet Switch/Hub. As such, it is a scalable solution for upgrading a network to support Power over Ethernet
