I would like to upgrade the firmware but I cannot find them. Where can I download a new Firmware? I thought the firmware stand under gpl. Best regard André

You can get a software update only by a certified SEN partner. If your deal was a privat bargain, try to connect your seller. Maybe he has contact to an authorized partner. Amongst others the software consists of gpl parts. This parts are mentioned in the enclosed manual. --Horemu 12:13, 8 April 2008 (CEST)

Hi,

I bought from my reseller in Italy two openstage 20 and an openstage 40, shipped with firmware V1 R2.2.63 SIP 070629 and V0 R7.8.135 SIP 070312. I would like to upgrade the firmware: I followed the indication provided here but, neither my distributor nor Siemens here in Italy are able to provide me with the the newer version. Could you please give an answer?

Best regards Alessandro

Hi Alessandro, your distributor or your local Siemens contact must have access to the Siemens SWS (Software Server). The server provides the required software for free. For Italy the available software versions are:
Openstage 20 SIP: V1 R3.7.0, V30152-P1299-A100-33
Openstage 40 SIP: V1 R3.7.0, V30152-P1299-A200-33

HiPath OpenOffice ME

The technical specification says the system needs about 250W. This is the maximum power of the internal power supply. The system needs typically 60W.

Support and Firmware Upgrade Policy of Siemens

Hi,

We were unfortunate enough to purchase a siemens hipath 2030 PBX from a European online retailer, believing that the system is like any other PBX/VOIP vendor's system, in the sense that it can be easily configured by the user and that firmware and software upgrades would be a common and easy process like the service other system providers offer to their customers. Unfortunately we have found out the hard way that not only the basic web user interface does not provide for many of the configuration parameters of the advertised capabilities of the system, but furthermore it is impossible to upgrade the system and ip-phones firmware since access to the appropriate download site is not granted for free.

In this regard we have to resolve to hire external siemens certified technicians that charge an arm and a leg for the simplest work to be done, defying the whole initial idea of isntalling a PBX system from a reputable provider that it will not cost a fortune to parametrise and maintain. Furthemore, we have found that the local (Greece) support from Siemens is non-existing, denying us any kind of support, and even refusing to supply us with the name of a certified technical contact that can help us, on the basis that we have not purchased the PBX system from Greece, but rather from another european country. (like we live on Mars and not in the European Union)

So we are stuck with a PBX system that we cannot parametrise to our liking, we cannot upgrade its firmware and software, we are denied of any support from the local siemens offices, and the only available option is to dump it since it is going to cost us more money in external help induced costs that we have budgeted for. It appears that contrary to other vendors siemens policy is not accomodating or helpful in any way to the needs of cost sensitive small businesses, and the only solution available to us would be to turn to an open platform system like asterisk.

So, before we decide to throw our money away, do you plan to offer any kind of support to small company users like us that do not want to spend an arm and a leg on fees for external consultants certified by Siemens? Can we have access to your propriatery software to parametrise our system to our liking? Can we get access to your firmaware upgrade site? A response will be very much appreciated.

Comment There is no explanation given for the error log - it is almost self explaining, but there should be an indication that this debug feature is available, especially in case you provide config files manually created

Suggestions

Is it possible to add a section for the Siemens Wireless?

It would be very useful to have the AP30 and AP40 initially - then add on the Access Controllers and access points too.
