Workpoints, die auf Basis von SIP arbeiten, werden über ein herkömmliches Ethernet LAN-Kabel angeschlossen (wenn nicht PoE: zusätzliche Stromversorgung erforderlich) und haben Leistungsmerkmale, die vom verwendeten SIP-Server und der eingesetzten Firmware abhängen. Eine Umrüstung von SIP nach HFA ist durch Austausch der Firmware in der Regel möglich.
