OpenStage WL3 – Open Access Protocol (OAP)

One major part of the OpenStage WL3 portfolio is the Wireless Service Gateway (WSG). This WSG provides beyond others an OAP interface. This OAP interface is used to send and receive messages/alarm messages over LAN from other application server e.g. OpenScape Alarm Response Pro (OSCAR) to/from the OpenStage WL3 handsets. The OAP interface is bidirectional, this means it can send messages generated from the OpenStage WL3 handsets to an application server and can get messages from an application server and can send them to the OpenStage WL3 handset. The protocol is XML based and is using a TCP connection to the application Server.

The configuration of the OAP interface (e.g. IP address of the application Server) is basically done via the Web Based Management of the WSG Server (see Administration manual Wireless Service Gateway).

The advanced functionality of the message service (e.g. priority of messages in a message queue, repeat of message indications etc.) in the OpenStage WL3 handsets is described in the “Configuration Manual WL3 and WL3 Plus WLAN Handset”.

Messages are only applicable for OpenStage WL3 including Message License and OpenStage WL3 Plus handsets.
