Explanation

A Fully Qualified Domain Name consists of a host, a second- and top-level domain name, separated by dots.

Example of a FQDN: wiki.siemens-enterprise.com

  • wiki is the host
  • siemens-enterprise is the second-level domain name
  • com is the top level domain name
