Getestete Server Hardware
Primergy TX150 S6
- openSUSE Linux 10.3: OK.
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 mit SP2: OK.
- Installation of OpenSUSE 10.3 on FS Primergy TX150 S6 has worked. No parameters for ACPI or AHCI had to be changed. To check the LAN interfaces a SSH connection was established to another server. This worked with the on board network card as well as an external network card. The installation was however only conducted with the OpenSUSE DVD and not with (Windows-) installations program, which was delivered with the server. The available RAID system (pre installed through earlier installation) was recongnised by the OpenSUSE installation, no changes to the partitioning where made.

Common installation hints
- openSUSE 10.3 has to be installed in 32 Bit Mode (F7-Key only available with dual DVD 32/64).
- Hard disc problems:
- Modern servers are today often delivered with S-ATA hard disc controllers. Some of those controllers are not supported by openSUSE 10.3. In case of problems with the hard disc recognition, the AHCI mode must be disabled in the server BIOS and the server has to be restarted. After this change the server runs in P-ATA compatible mode.
- Network adapter problems:
- Install a certified external network adapter (refer to list of tested adapters above).
- When experiencing general problems:
- Press the following Function keys after starting the installation from the openSUSE install disc:
- F3 key >> for Graphics Adapter = Text Mode
- F5 key >> for Kernel Mode AHCI = off
- Problem: openSuse CD is always started from CD Drive.
- In this example the hard disc setting is IDE Mode. The setting has to be changed from Native IDE to AHCI (S-ATA) in the server BIOS and the server has to be restarted.
