Abbreviation
CLIP = Calling Line Identification Presentation.
Explanation
Feature "transmission of calling number information to the called party". On one side, calling number information allows to identify a calling party before accepting a call, and on the other side, in context with data applications the establishing of interconnections between separated systems is more easy.
CLIP is a basic call feature of many phones described in this Wiki.
