Is it possible the reverse operation ?
I mean: is it possible to convert back into CorNet IP-based Application software an optiPoint 4x0 that currently runs a SIP-based Application software (no matters if its SIP stack comes from factory or was previously converted from CorNet-IP) ?
If the answer is "Yes, it's possible":
- Which way to perform correctly that task should be used ?
- Which limitations are there regarding Application software Version/Release (both of SIP and CorNet-IP stacks) actually used by the workpoint and expected at the end of the process ?
- What's about NetBoot (BootROM) requirements (SIP/CorNet-IP)?

What is the application scenario you are thinking about? Typically, a customer / user has deployed CorNet IP and wants to migrate towards SIP, but not vice versa. In principle, this can be done. The netboot version should be the most recent one for the respective protocol (refer to the release notes, today it is something like 2.01 for SIP and 3.08 for CorNet IP - 3.08 supports some more LAN related features, which are not supported in the SIP application anyway). I need to check the details but the main issues should be that a factory reset should be done after downloading the HFA application (i.e. just as you do it the other way around). --Christian.kaehler 20:55, 27 January 2007 (CET)
Hello Christian,
When I asked you those questions I was busy doing some test with an optiPoint on a HiPath 2000 and on a open source SIP proxy server so I needed to switch between phone loadware frequently.
Maitaining coherent separate NetBoot ROM versions for SIP and CorNet IP applications let me to switch (I did it more and more times) between SIP and CorNet IP without any trouble (as you said).
