This page describes the configuration of a Nokia E/N series mobile phone as SIP client on HiPath OpenOffice ME, OpenScape Office LX/MX, and HiPath 3000 V8 to enable communications over dual-mode handsets on both the enterprise wireless LAN (WLAN) and the public mobile network.

Users benefit from true One Number Service feature and transparent roaming between networks which improves employee productivity and reachabilty. IT managers benefit from greater control over mobile phones and communication costs.

Information about using your Nokia Dual Mode Phone as SIP Client see the enclosed phone documentation.

Officially this feature is not supported yet! myPortal and Outlook Plugin will not work for this SIP device.

Preconditions

For more informations regarding Nokia smartphones compatibility look at VoIP support in Nokia devices page.

Both Nokia N79 and Nokia N85 dual mode mobile phones have been tested on HiPath OpenOffice ME V1 R4.

Any Nokia dual mode mobile phone belongings to an early VoIP generation, like the S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 platform with Symbian OS 9.2 such as:

  • Nokia E51
  • Nokia E66
  • Nokia E71

is not released (or is it released on certain conditions) on HiPath OpenOffice ME V1 R4 since test made have shown issues with "Call Hold" and "Call Forwarding". Despite there is not a clear statement about Nokia E55, it should work belonging to S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 platform with Symbian OS 9.3.

Restrictions

In HiPath 3000 V8 there are some restrictions regarding the Call Transfer feature:

  • Transfer before answer is not supported when the initiator is a Mobile SIP Client
  • Transfer after answer is not supported when the initiator is an optiPoint 4x0 HFA and the transferred party is a Mobile SIP Client.

All the above are Nokia problems. Siemens Development has contacted Nokia. There is no feedback yet.

Process

Follow the steps below to configure a Nokia Dual Mode Phone as a SIP Client on HiPath Systems.

Create a SIP client on your HiPath System. Authentication must be activated. For REALM we suggest to use HiPath, but this can be freely chosen.
